Chai Pattana Watermill : the World's Ninth Wastewater Treatment Syste
- Recognizing the magnitude of these environmental challenges, His Majesty the King initiated several projects to address water treatment. One royally
initiated project used quality water to dispel wastewater. Another used hyacinths as a wastewater filter, a practice introduced in 1984. Unfortunately, such projects did not achieve the desired
outcome, until later when His Majesty introduced the idea of air generated propulsion to oxidize water. Based upon the slow, surface movement of water, an air-powered float, officially known as
Chai Pattana Watermill, successfully treats wastewater.
